Jerry Klepinger got his start in the block business in 1950 in Stark City, Mo.  Prior to the beginning of the block business he had been mining underground for lead and zinc.  As the prices of these products started to decline he began to sell the by-products produced from the mine.  It is interesting to note that in addition to selling chat and fill dirt he sold water from the mine to Neosho Nurseries farm, located east of the mine.  Earlier in his career he had actively mined uranium in Arizona.

It was the year 1950 when he purchases a two at a time electric block machine.  The batching was manual and bagged cement was used for easier handling.  Chat from the mines, where the aggregates used for making block.

In 1953, Neosho Concrete Products Co., was open for business on East Coler Street.  Ready mixed concrete, the first in Neosho, would be the only product.  In 1955 the block plant along with the purchases of a new block machine, was moved to Neosho on the same property located between Morse Park and the Kansas City Southern Depot.  Hauling of block was done with a dump truck and the company serviced a 10 mile radius of Neosho.

In 1983, the company moved its ready mix operation, updating its production equipment, to the present location on Industrial Drive.  In 1987, the company consolidated its entire business, moving the block plant to the same location.  At that time a $1,000,000 commitment was made increasing the production and quality of our products.
